From Hobbyist to Artist: My Journey Through the Milan Art Mastery Program

As I stand on the other side of graduation, certificate in hand, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary journey that led me here. When I first joined the Milan Art Mastery Program in 2021, I was driven by a simple love for painting—a hobby that brought me joy and solace. I could never have predicted how deeply this path would shape me, nor the many challenges and transformations I would experience along the way.

The world was already in turmoil when I began my studies. The COVID-12 pandemic had swept across the globe, and Italy, with its storied art history, was not spared. Lockdowns became a new reality, and the city’s vibrant streets fell eerily silent. Yet, in the quiet of my home, I found a new intimacy with my work. The constraints of lockdown forced me to dig deeper, to experiment with mediums I had never considered, and to discover the resilience that art can inspire.

In the midst of this upheaval, life brought even more change. I gave birth to my beautiful child—an experience that redefined my understanding of creativity and endurance. Motherhood demanded everything from me: patience, flexibility, and a willingness to embrace the unknown. There were days when exhaustion threatened to overwhelm me, when the canvas sat untouched as I rocked my baby to sleep. But I learned to see these moments not as interruptions, but as part of my creative process. My art became a diary of early motherhood—its joys, its struggles, its quiet revelations.

As if the pandemic and new motherhood weren’t enough, I also found myself moving houses more than once. Each move was a test of adaptability, a lesson in letting go of the familiar. My art supplies traveled with me, packed and unpacked, sometimes misplaced, but always present. Each new space brought a different light, a new perspective, and in these transitions, I learned to make art anywhere, under any circumstance.

Through all these changes, the Milan Art Mastery Program was a constant source of inspiration and growth. The curriculum challenged me to move beyond technique and to explore the ‘why’ behind my work. I learned the language of color, the discipline of daily practice, and the courage to share my voice. My mentors encouraged experimentation and risk-taking, reminding me that mistakes are often the birthplace of innovation.

Perhaps the greatest transformation was internal. What began as a hobby slowly became a daily ritual, a necessity as vital as breath. Art became my anchor—through sleepless nights, through uncertainty, through the shifting landscapes of my life. And somewhere along the way, a new dream took root: to share my art with the world, not just as a passion, but as a business. The program provided not only artistic skills but also practical knowledge about the art market, branding, and entrepreneurship. I now see a future where my art can support my family and inspire others.

Graduating in 2025 feels less like an ending and more like a beginning. I am grateful for every obstacle, every lesson, every brushstroke that brought me here. The Milan Art Mastery Program did more than teach me how to paint—it taught me how to persevere, how to adapt, and how to believe in the transformative power of art. As I look ahead, I do so with confidence, ready to turn my passion into a thriving creative business, and to continue growing as both an artist and a mother.

Thank you for being part of my journey. May we all find the courage to pursue our dreams, no matter how winding the path may be.
